Sad News from Lyndhurst
We are saddened to pass along the news of the passing of President of Lyndhurst Roller Hockey, Fred Sabato. Fred was and always will be a great leader, mentor, coach, director and friend.
When you went to see a Lyndhurst game, there he was getting everything ready for the day, laughing or just waiting to get a roster set or an official paid.
He will be sorely missed by all of us in the NJYRHA Community. Please keep his family in your prayers. RIP Fred Sabato.
All Lyndhurst games this coming weekend have been postponed and will be rescheduled later in the season.
Chris Sofio, Long time Lyndhurst Roller Hockey Representative had this to say
"I have known Freddie for 46 years. He loved his children and granddaughter. He loved coaching roller hockey as well as being the league president and representative to the travel league. Freddie was a kind person who was always looking for the players on all our teams. He would tell me about the players who families could not afford the fees and that he worked it out. If we were talking about the teams or the Rangers, the conversation would change to our granddaughters and how great it is to be a grandfather. We talked about starting a rec girls hockey league. Freddie my friend I miss you, Rest in Peace."
